Elliott Carter: Ballets

From ancient Greece to colonial Virginia, explore two legends through the eyes of dance on the latest BMOP/sound release Elliott Carter: Ballets. With fifteen minutes of music restored from the suite version, the world premiere recording of the complete Pocahontas ballet revisits the tale of the native princess and the English colonist John Smith. Carter's only other ballet, The Minotaur retells the myth of Theseus as he conquers King Minos's maze and monster and is led to safety by Ariadne.
