Robert Clarida is an electric bassist that concerns himself with formal elements from the classical mindset – sonata-form with exposition and development, and alternating 4/4 and 5/4 metrical mapping, for example – but with the sound and technical vocabulary of Frank Zappa, West African song and reggae.
