BMOP stands for the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. It is a leading orchestra dedicated to performing, commissioning, and recording new orchestral music, particularly focusing on contemporary composers.

BMOP specializes in contemporary music, including works by living composers as well as 20th and 21st-century repertoire (“The music formerly known as ‘classical.’”) Our performances often feature innovative and experimental pieces that push the boundaries of orchestral music.

BMOP/sound produces CDs, often featuring pieces that were performed in concert. However, CDs on the BMOP/sound label are more akin to “composer portraits” than renderings of prior concerts. These albums provide a cross section of a composer’s catalog, inviting listeners to acquaint themselves with each composer individually.
