Rick Snow is a composer and educator based in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a composer he seeks intersections between dimension, expression, metaphor, and process. His music has been performed in many venues in the United States as well as selectively in Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, and the Czech Republic. A few of his most recent works include Singing Sweetly from a Spider's Web—an interactive sound environment for computer, loudspeakers and any instrument or voice; Arcanum: Memories Cryptic—a series of works for piano solo for performance alone or within Singing Sweetly; Iris/Shiver—a performance work for custom audio/visual instrument; and Old Windows, New Worlds—a performance work for midi keyboard controlled, surround sound computer instrument. As an educator he has taught music theory, history, technology and composition courses at Tulane University,the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Alabama. He is currently Visiting Assistant Professor at Tulane University and Director of the Music Science and Technology Program. He holds a Ph.D. from UCSD where his primary mentors were Philippe Manoury and Chaya Czernowin.
